Plymouth Rock thread!

Pics
I was hoping that the Plymouth Rock lovers could help me out with this little guy or lady. I ordered the bantam barred from MPC because they didn't have any standard at the time I ordered the rest of my girls. She's 5 weeks now and is just NOW beginning to get some wing feathers, but her neck and bottom are still down, but thinning out fast. The rest of the girls, bantams included, have their feathers. I'm ready to put them outside without the light, but worried about this girl, so keep the heat lamp on for them all throughout the night.

I was just wondering if this was normal for a plymouth bantam at 5 weeks? (Do you think she's a she?) I should mention that for the first 5 days she had a very messy bottom until I started using the apple cider vinegar. I was a bit worried about her but she's been eating and keeping up with the big girls just fine, although her poo continues to be a bit more runny than the rest.

Thanks for your help!

Whillo .... Yes, that is a girl you have there.

My Barred Rocks are 15 wks old and 13 wks old. Are they EVER gonna get yellow legs? Notice the one little bantam girl sorta has some yellow. The pink leg bands are the ones I hatched from Jamie (DuckTang). The others are from Dick Horstman.

Kathy, that's so odd on the leg color. Yuppers, that little banty does have a bit of a yellow tint! Maybe when they get some hormones runnin' through their bods....

Yeah, I'm perplexed - from the pics you posted earlier of the adult stock, they looked yellow...not super BRIGHT yellow, but most definitely yellow. It has to be something that comes on in adulthood?

I sure hope they do get yellow, they are awfully pretty.

Check the bottom of their feet, right in the middle. See if thats yellow, or still white.

My Bantam BPR seems to be a late bloomer too - she feathered out much more slowly than the standards the same age and also slower than the Silkie I got with her. Mine will be 8 weeks old next week and she just started getting the last of her feathers on her head. Mine also had pasty butt the first week - she was the only one to have that trouble.

We just hatched 2 chicks from my blue/splash pen with my black barred roo 1 dark blue and 1 black...for now. Got another few dozen in my bator..wanting some blue barred pullets for all my blue chicken fans around here that have been asking for blue stripes..sorry no pics yet but they are cute..
