yep only 4 but that's fine...I'm a collector of gorgeous breeds so I only need a few of each! Yes my son visiting from Michigan was able to see many hatching, he loved it...In fact we had a huge family dinner party and 3 hatched. We had 10-15 people huddled around the incubator with mouths open...I should have taken a picture of THAT! Very cool.

So one has a pretty yellowy chest while the others are lighter, are there many variations? One is pretty skinny, gotta get to work on fattening her up. When can I start mealworms? One week old?

And oh man you won't believe that I leave for a mini-vacation on thursday - monday. My best chicken friend is babysitting...but I'll miss some growing up days...they'll be giants when I get home!

Ok...I showed off my Columbian Rocks a few weeks back (they are getting better by the day BTW), but here are a few pix of my Barred Rocks from today. They are approx 15 weeks old and I have a very nice group of pullets coming along with GREAT type....long backs, tails are correct, size is good and barring is excellent. I also have a cockerel from another bloodline that I will be using as an outcross either this Fall or next Spring...last 3 pix are of him.

Take a look

Have a great afternoon y'all!!

Some beautiful beautiful barred rocks you have with nice yellow legs are they from the same breeder as the ones from Kathy's? Did you ever find some more nice quality WR's? I really like my one and only pullet to hatch are they recessive white? I'll get some pictures up of my SPR from Wynette before they get gangly....

lotsapaints, My BRs are from 2 different breeders than Kathys came from. Legs are nice and yellow in one group and getting "better" in the other group. I do have one very nice white rock pullet from a line going back some 50+ yrs. Going to be getting 2-3 more next month. Will be using those to improve size/type on my Columbian Rocks. I'll ask him if he would sell hatching eggs if you'd like me to. With the Georgia "red clay" we have here, I would NEVER be able to keep pure white birds...they would look horrible.

BTW - I have been told they are recessive white, but I don't know that for a fact. Maybe one of our resident genetics gurus can help there

Out of 2 dozen hatching eggs just one....something about the mail coming to California lots of ruined air cells though I did get 9 from 18 of Wynette's she packs very well but still not that great of a %. You can ask but it turns out pretty pricey due to the hatch rate. Mine started off so little but now she's bigger than her Marans hatchmates and a chunky monkey hope she lays as good as my PR they are laying machines the hot weather doesn't faze them much.
