Also, my boy still hasn't grown in all his feathers, when can I expect him to be fully dressed? He has sections of his wings that look barely past pin feathers and have looked like that all along.

My sppr hens need hen aprons. I think that's what they're called. What size? Or do they come in sizes? What is the best source?

Can anyone tell me the advantage of barred rock vs. Dominique? I'm wanting the color and egg production. I also want whichever will go brooder.

Barred Rocks are bigger than Dommies hatchery quality ones will be better layers not so much meat and not that close to the standard more production type. I have rocks and love them good layers and excellent eating very much eye candy too

So the barred rocks should be better layers that the Dominique?

Dominique is a rarer and older breed that has been just about lost and I don't know how many eggs a year they lay I do know you can get both from Hatcheries but they will not be SOP .....it's like your Marans find a good breeder of the variety you like the most and get in line if you can't wait order and figure you'll get good layers that's what hatcheries sell
