Plymouth Rock thread!

Callducks, Punky Rooster and Cherylcohen:
Thanks for sharing! I just love to see more of these beautiful silver pencilled birds! Lovely fluffy butts and beautiful pencilling in all the pics!

My 4 chickens came from central Nova Scotia. Hoping that they don't start moulting before warmer weather comes back.

I am just going to breed with my small flock this coming summer. I have a small styrofoam incubator that I want to try out. I have a few neighbours who want to hatch out some of the eggs too. I'll see how this mating works out before adding blood from other stock.

Bye for now.

Thanks. Is he on BYC? I would like to buy some eggs from a fellow BYC'er, especially if someone has multiple varieties of the bantams and could send eggs from each.

I know where you can get White Rock eggs and chicks started at say five weeks good one.

Barred Rocks and all the other colors at this time are very hard to get unless you go to say Ideal hatchery or someone else that may have a little better bantam. Butches Birds in Wisconsin may be able to help you. Type in your search engin Buctchs Birds.

He also is a judge and has a email address contact me in a person messag and I will send it to you. Dick has barred rock bantams and very good ones. all the other colors are so hard to find. We just dont have enough beginner who have them that will can share them with others this year. Hopefully next year.

You must understand most breeders rasie all thier chicks up and cull them then keep the birds for them selves maybe 15 birds and sell 20 at a show or mail them to your house. They dont have time to fool with eggs or chicks. Most of these good breeders work eight to ten hours a day and that is the big reason.

Hope this helps you. Whites are available about twenty chicks that I know of at five weeks of age. bob

So how is everyone White Plymouth Rocks laying? Mine have have 6 hens are laying anywhere from 1 to 4 a day. The most I've gotten at one time is 4. I do not have mine under lights nor do they have the best of shelters, trying to get that rectified by the next winter though. I do have a sturdy tarp wrapped around threee sides of the run though.
