Plz Help Sick Birds Need Advice

I talked to 2 local vets and none of them know jack all about chickens really lol, so this lady who comes into my store told me to try a light solution of bleach and spray there eyes twice a day and see if that helps at all with the swelling some of my birds look healthy but are still making a gurgling noise when they breath
They may not know anything about chickens, but any vet should be able to collect a sample to send to a lab.

Hi!

I have just been looking at the photographs you submitted - I personally feel you should be using an antibiotic ( you mentioned tetracycline ) you can put it into their water supply if yours comes in powder format - is there by chance any foul smell from the eyes/mouth of the infected chickens?

ACV can be wonderful but I am not sure if it can be used with an antibiotic in the water too.

I was concerned about somebody suggesting a weak solution of bleach to spray onto their faces/eye area..... PLEASE be cautious about well intentioned people coming into your store who may not be giving you good advice.... you can obtain expert advice here on BYC from experienced people - I hope somebody with far more experience than I have to read your thread and help you further.

Best of luck to you and your sick birds

X2!

Ya this lady who comes in said to make sure it's a mild solution of bleach she uses it on her birds when she feels it's needed and she has had birds for many years, when I get home from my night classes I will post and update on my birds , I'm very grateful to have people on this site that care enough to help me out with advice ,,, thanks everyone

Oh and also no foul smell at all coming from the birds I have been checking every day , so I'm hopping its not that bad, if they smelled any worse then a normal chicken does I would be very concerned lol

Well I have good news, All the remaining birds I have are better and seem to be doing fine now, everyone is off the meds and eggs are rolling in, thanks for all the help everyone

Great news! Thanks for posting on their progress!

Well done for your hard work in getting them back to full health!
