I got an invite to another group via PM this evening. You probably did too. Seems like we had a spammer breaking the forum rules. I copied the PM to one of the moderators so they could deal with it. When I checked my messages later, the offending PM had been deleted. I wasn't sorry to see it gone, but it got me to wondering really how private our PMs really are. Who has access to our PMs?

The board owner is the only person with access.

In the case of spammers, he can delete the PMs from the spammer.

If you are worried that he goes through and reads your PMs for fun, you can be assured he is not interested.

If you do not have an encrypted connection on the internet then everything you do is as public as a post card.

As for BYC server security, you should assume it is OK, but not impregnable.

I got spammed by email.

if he were looking for entertainment in my PMs, he would be bored out of his mind!!

Usually, if the account that was spamming is deleted, it deletes all posts and pms from that person as well. No one has to go into your pms to do that. It's like the Spammer never existed.
