The P.O. will insure any package, but I was told that the only way they will pay out on eggs is IF the box is lost or IF the outside of the box is damaged. So if you have eggs that arrive and are so shaken up that the box is oozing, but the box itself looks fine, they won't pay on it.
I once shipped a TV and asked about the screen possibly being broken in shipping. I was told then that if the box was crushed, or if something went through the box (like a bar or something), then they would pay. If it was only dented or torn a little they wouldn't. Which is why my son's TV now has a whole corner of the case shattered. Apparently they dropped it, probably more than once. At least it still works
