PO lost eggs, all I got was, "I am sorry."

The P.O. will insure any package, but I was told that the only way they will pay out on eggs is IF the box is lost or IF the outside of the box is damaged. So if you have eggs that arrive and are so shaken up that the box is oozing, but the box itself looks fine, they won't pay on it.

I once shipped a TV and asked about the screen possibly being broken in shipping. I was told then that if the box was crushed, or if something went through the box (like a bar or something), then they would pay. If it was only dented or torn a little they wouldn't. Which is why my son's TV now has a whole corner of the case shattered. Apparently they dropped it, probably more than once. At least it still works

Well this is the case of the missing box (with eggs). I would think its pretty tacky for a seller to recoup the money for shipping and the money for the eggs and only give the seller the money for the eggs.
If you get the box and the eggs were all broken I can see where they would not refund everything or anything for that matter.

Why should the seller be out the money for shipping? She is not the one who lost them. There are risks that a buyer takes when they buy anything and have it shipped. As a seller I wouldn't refund the shipping money and when I'm the buyer I certainly wouldn't expect the seller to return the shipping since she followed thru and sent me my purchase.

True, you are lucky she's willing to reimburse you the cost of the eggs, she doesn't have to do that either.

It's not the seller's fault the package was lost so no they shouldn't reimburse the postage. It's not their fault the package was lost so they don't owe for the eggs either, but it's very nice of them to offer to replace them for you.
We can't hold sellers responsible for the action of the Post Office.

They insure live chicks why not eggs. The cost of the insurance is so minimal that it is worth it. With priority isn't there tracking. How can they loose it the numbers are scanned all the time. You need to get some answers packages just don't disappera.

I just called the post office main number. Some priority packages come with automatic insurance. You have to call 1-800-275-8777 and tell them where it was coming from and where it was going to and see if it qualifies. Your local post master can also approve a refund for your postage. At least that is what the person answering the 800 number told me.

Never did I say the shipper should be out any money!!!! I said if there was insurance on the package the seller can recoup ALL the money (shipping and auction winning) and its tackey that a seller would only refund the cost of the auction. But I dont know if there was insurance or not at this point. Thats why I told the OP to call the PO.

I sell on Ebay and have been familiar with shipping those packages for 7 years. When I ship out a package to a buyer and its lost I HAVE TO FILE THE PAPERWORK to get any type of refund. Of course I would refund the buyer before I got the refund which usually takes weeks. I would happily refund the cost of the auction AND SHIPPING COST because thats what the PO refunds me.
