My free-range juveniles around house of decimated grapes and elderberries. Latter gave really purple poo,.......everywhere, especially where chicks roost. Now emphasis is on pokeweed. The pokeweed required even more jumping than even elderberry. I am thinking about knocking the pokeweed plants over so higher fruit masses are easier to reach. Some chickens more interested than other in pokeweed. The chickens can also see something in the berries I do not to determine if they are good or not.

I know wild birds like pokeweed from all of the purple splats all over. That's how that stuff gets spread all over the place here. I've never eat any pokeweed but people do. They say it's better than okra but you have to pick it when young or it gets tough.
