Somehow one of my hens got in my chick pen, which is very secured and I’m not sure how, and attacked my polish chick. He’s bald on the top of his head and both eyes are very swollen. He can sit upright but he is very unbalanced. I don’t believe he can see. I have him all cleaned up and under a heat lamp. Is there much more I can do for him? And is there a chance he can make it? I know polish have vaulted skulls and a very sensitive part, and that’s the most damaged area.
(I already put medicine on the top before I thought to take a picture.)

I am sorry this happened to your chick. Here is how to treat these injuries. @Vickichics Polish suffered from the same as yours:

Thank you.
I put Neosporin(without pain relief) on the wounds and covered the top of his head with gauze. He had lots of debris in his eyes so I used a warm wet q-tip and very gently got it out. And I’ve used a q-tip to drop water on the tip of his beak. He’s not drinking much but will occasionally sip it up.

Try to get him to drink some PoultryNutriDrench or similar to overcome the shock. Every two hours would be enough.
I’ve got powdered electrolytes in the water. Should they work? And I set an alarm.

Also, after I sent that one message I did manage to get him to take a big sip from the cup, he had one eye open so I decided to try it. He stood up and rearranged himself, so that’s a plus!

Sounds good, keep up the good care! 👍

I’ve been giving him water every 2 hours. Changed the gauze and medicine. I just readjusted him and he opened one eye and just looked around for 5ish minutes. I held him where he was in a standing position on the blanket, but supported. He also made some noises at me before snuggling back into the blanket and falling asleep. Earlier one of my hens started sqwuacking and he perked up immediately and tried to walk. So he’s much more alert than he was earlier and Is becoming aware of his surroundings.

Chickens are amazingly tough. Polish do better with high protein, especially if injured. Add cooked eggs or fish for him to pick at. Good luck.
He already got high protein food mixed in with chick food, and I plan on making him some eggs when I have access the kitchen. Thank you!
