Your chicks look about 5 weeks, so they may start growing in beards at 6-7 weeks of age. Also depends whether they're purebreds, or not. My EE is growing in his beard right now, he's 6 weeks, 3 days old right now. When would they get the beards?
Some of the white ones are over one and half times the little ones so I'm thinking ages are varying. Or, you may have some bantam polish, explaining the size difference. Some of the white ones are over one and half times the little ones so I'm thinking ages are varying. This is so confusing
I think they are all bantam polish. I think that was the only breed in the hoarders house. They'd bred over 100 birds all in plastic boxes and wooden crates for the bigger ones. Was quite shocking to see. Said I'd take 5 got home and they'd stuffed 8 in basketOr, you may have some bantam polish, explaining the size difference.
Okay. So their diet probably wasn't very good cuz of the hoarding problem they went through. Did the rescuers say what they were being fed, or if they were getting proper nutrition?I think they are all bantam polish. I think that was the only breed in the hoarders house. No nothing. No advice. Asked if I could come and get more but until I know what I have here I can't commit to more. The only thing they told me was the big one is a roo. He has quite prominent red wattles and red v shaped crest. I've only ever had ex cage hens rescued as adults so no idea about chicks. They're all eating/drinking well and the bigger ones are very inquisitive. The 2 smallest have started to get a little braver too. Staying indoors at the moment.Okay.
