I ordered all pullets from Meyer, but the crests on the gold laced look more like mohawks and less like poofs. Is it too soon to tell? All of the 5 gold laced seem sub-standard crest wise, but 2 in particular look like pure mohawks.

Opinions? Can they be roos? Or just poorly crested?

The most "mohawky"

Sort of a poof on this one...

But none of the gold laced have crests like the buff:

Or the WC blues (though they are looking more like WC blacks, but whatever...)

As you know I am as new to this breed as you are...but i am going to take a guess since you haven't gotten any guesses yet.. I would guess #1 boy #2 stumped me....maybe boy? #3 girl #'s 4 and 5 girls.... But that is just my guesses...

Hi, too young for me to help you, I have 11 week old WCB and could tell by their crest at around 7 weeks because the girls stay puff ball looking whereas the males flatten down.
I just got some gold laced and like yours they are a whole different ball game..no pun intended..glad you posted pics and will subscribe....they sure are cute huh?!

Yeah, real cuties!

The gold laced crests are all so wildly different from the WC blues, I wonder if it means anything at this age.

Well, I'll keep an eye on it and update the pics when they get older.

Sorry, that one was our favorite chicken too. It was really funny. Looking back at pictures, its seems obvious now because he was always the one looking at the camera and the first to try anything.

He turned out to be VERY noisy so we gave him to a friend yesterday.
