Polish chicks dead...

Okay, I have been reading about medicated vs. non-medicated feed and have learned something, I think. LOL.

I will be switching to non-medicated feed and getting some Corid to keep on hand.

I have some chicks outside that were hatched by momma hens and some chicks inside that were hatched in the incubator. The Polish and Houdan chicks are also inside. The inside chicks will not even be exposed to the soil until they are 3-4 weeks old, do they don't need the medicated feed. Even if they are on medicated feed once put outside, they could still get cocci.

So, do you think the death of the 2 Polish chicks had anything to do with the medicated feed?

Switched the chicks all to non-medicated feed. Thus far the only Polish chick left is looking healthy and growing. I am so worried, I do not want to lose this one.

Any more ideas about possible cause. Any more info on vaccinations?

I have had a chick die. We made the mistake of buying her from a store

I recommend that you buy them from a breeder and that they are vaccinated. My chick was limping, but i gave her water and food, but she died anyway. There were no injuries or diseases. I belive your chicks probably died of natural things like mine

I bought 5 Polish Silver Laced on Wednesday. It's Sunday and 3 are dead with no explanation. Keep checking on them, they're fine, and within a few hours dead. I also got 7 isa brown and 6 California Whites, all are fine. We even separated the Polish from the rest of the healthy flock. No difference. WTH? I've never had this happen, and I've had so man different varieties.
