Do you have pics of your roo as a 7-8 week old chick? I’m wondering about mine as well and wondering if it’s also “wishful thinking”...did yours crow at 15 weeks? From the front and the top hat, looks girlie. Took me 15 weeks to decide if my WCBP was a boy or girl... wishful thinking mostly. But now I can't deny it any more. But he is still cute and get's to stay as long as we don't have issues.![]()

You chicks are cute!![]()
No, the WCBP boy that I had didn't actually crow until 25+ weeks. All are individuals and I have had Silkies crow as young as 3 weeks! My friend has a Cochin boy who never crowed until around 18 months. Most breeds will have male saddle feathers coming in around 12-ish weeks. But please feel free to post a pic if you're able and we can try and help discern gender if it's throwing hints.Do you have pics of your roo as a 7-8 week old chick? Sure! I included some pics of the face and full body. Sorry if you have to zoom a bit! (S) he is around 8 weeks old now. I have been reading that the white-chested BBS sometimes show wattles early and eventually are definitely hens. Showing wattles early.. maybe, as it's also non-bearded. Having them be also red... doubtful for the stated age to be female.Sure! I included some pics of the face and full body. That's where I'm at too! LOL.Showing wattles early.. maybe, as it's also non-bearded. Having them be also red... doubtful for the stated age to be female.
Crest still appears very female, but I suspect that may change. If that were my bird (with no other personality type indicators and just features according to age) I would be confident it was male.Hopefully, I am wrong though!
When in doubt.. we always presume cockerel.. then if we get pullets it's a bonus instead of a let down.
That being said.. I wouldn't call it doubt in this case... for me.. Wishful thinking, yes. Looks like a future handsome cockerel.![]()
