Is the "top hat" gene dominant? I have a polish roo and an RIR hen. Just curious if the babies would have little top hats too...

I can tell you exactly what that looks like,

at least if your rooster is buff laced

The top knot is dominant but the vaulted skull that makes it so impressive in Polish is not so you end up with a compressed crest.

I was wondering this same exact thing the other day but what if you breed a polish/other breed to a polish would you get a vaulted skull?

if you breed a cross back to a Polish you increase the odds of getting the vaulted skull back but you'd get some compressed too... I'm not sure if that's controlled by just one gene though
