Hello! I'm dying to find out if my chicks are roosters or hens and would be so appreciative of any guesses. The polish and silkies are about 8 weeks and the wynadottes are about 4 weeks. I've looked through so many articles and posts about sexing chicks but I think it's harder when they are yours and you have hopes for them to be hens. Thanks!

Pippin's easy guide to silkie sexing

Hello there! When I hatched my own silkies, I studied and studied about how to sex them. I read that it was almost impossible to sex them, and that you had to wait for a crow or an egg. Raising and watching them helped me pick out certain traits that only belong to roosters or hens. These...

I don't have any experience with the Wyandottes, but I can give an opinion on the Polish and Silkies>
1. Possibly a roo. I don't see any streamer feathers, but it may be early. The crest is swept back, which makes me think roo. The thing that most looks rooey is there seems to be some comb development and possibly the start of wattles.
2. Possibly a hen. The crest looks fairly neat. However, my silkies are about this age, and I have second and third-guessed myself every other day with them. Their crests have changed several times.
3. Hen - very compact, tidy poof. She's a cutie!

Thank you! I'll be over the moon if 4/5 turn out to be hens. That's exactly what I was hoping for.
