Hi, Does anyone in upstate NY want a Gold Laced Pullet (14 weeks old), "Chickie" is the only Polish in a mixed flock and you guessed it, they are pecking her bald.. I'm very concerned that if I don't find her a new home she will be killed..

I'm about 25 miles East of Syracuse and willing to deliver within a reasonable distance...

Poor thing! If her head gets pecked hard, she can get brain damage. Polish and silkies are prone to that.
You may want to try placing a piece of duct tape on the top of her head in the meantime.

thanks for the idea, I've used duct tape for just about everything else, but hadn't thought of that.. it seems to mostly happen on the roost, so she is currently sleeping alone and I keep bag balm on her head (the others don't seem to like the feel of it), but I definitely want to re-home her as soon as possible. She is so sweet, I don't want her to be hurt worse.

We have a six week old golden laced polish chick who is currently in with a dominique of the same age that could care less about her crest. Once they are around laying age we plan on putting them in with the main flock, which sadly has no crested breeds, making the polish the only crested chicken in there. We understand the problem with crested breeds and noncrested breeds being mixed, so the introduction would be over the course of a couple days so that they can get used to eachother. She would be introduced with three other chickens, so she wouldn't be the only new bird. The chickens in are main flock are sweet, and when a new chicken is introduced the new chicken recieves a few pecks but that is mostly it, however they don't stick around with the older birds for a week or two until they feel accepted into the flock. We plan on triming the polish's crest until it's almost gone, that way the other birds won't pick on her as much, and as it grows back they can slowly get accustomed to her "poof". We would trim her crest often so that she can see fine and avoid trouble. If needed we can take her back to the breeder, but we would really like to keep her. Will this work? Here's a pic of her a week ago:

I've posted pics of her asking if she was a girl before, and on the "What breed or gender is this?" section I was told girl, but on this thread I was told boy. She has a round crest which makes me and a few others think girl, but I don't doubt the people on this thread. If it's a boy then we were told we can take her back to the breeder and trade for a girl, but we're hoping we don't have to do that. About the introduction though, will it work?

I'll try. I noticed in that pic she looks more like a rooster, but in person she looks like a girl. I'll try and get some pics. Any thoughts on if she'll be okay with my flock?
