Hi ALL of you Polish Experts ! I have a problem....Hatchery shipped standard white crested blacks instead of bantams. Is there any way to determine sex of Polish early on such as feathering rate or other characteristics for this breed ? I need to decide in a hurry if I am going to re-home before I get bonded to them as the bantams I requested plus some others I ordered are soon to be shipped & I am currently in baby

If they are about 3 days old you check search for the thread on here about Feather Sexing. We used it with a batch of about 20 polish chicks to get trios - and it was 100% right! lucky us!!

Thanks calicokat ! I will look for that thread for future reference. These chicks are 6 days old & I cannot see any difference in wing feathering or tail feathering. I should have looked at them closer when they first arrived. Just noticed today they were stepping over my cochin bantams so suspected they may be standards & checked with hatchery......But today a definate difference in heads & crests. Half have narrower heads & longer necks with much higher up,smaller crest and other half has a thicker neck-head with a much larger round crest. Does this mean anything ?

I used to have a WCBP mixed with a Pheonix. Let me tell you that the result was an aggressive rooster who was a hazard to me and my family. I still loved him though... I miss you Chickovsky, I hope your new owners are treating you well.

Some new pictures of my 6 week old buff lace bantam polish chicks~ Obvious rooster and 2 obvious girls but the 4th one I am still not sure about, although I am leaning towards a girl. Opinions appreciated

This is the one that I'm not sure of the sex, but I think it is a pullet?

I would lean toward pullet on that one..... however it's hard to say with the pic....... give it another week or two and compare the feather edges in the crest to your girls & boy.

I thought so..... but no good "head on" pics to see the feather shape/ crest shape from front......... and given the age.....

if you can get a head on shot post it up- otherwise in a couple weeks you should have a better idea
