My, how things change in an instant!.....I have been with the chickens all day getting ready for the winter, adding mulch to the runs, making sure food/water is covered (we're expecting rain) and looking for the missing trouble maker I mentioned in my previous post. I had a feeling that he was caught somewhere trying to get back to the flock....I checked every double fence, under buildings, anywhere he could wedge himself in but I couldn't find him.
Tonight I went out to close everyone up and my Cocker Spaniel Maddie came with me. When I was closing the EE coop she was head in, butt up, tail wagging behind a grow out pen and the fencing. When she wouldn't come out I realized it had to be Mr T! Sure enough there he was, wedge between the grow out pen and the fencing....I thought he was dead, it had been over 24 hours...I considered leaving him there until the morning when I could see better but didn't want him to be bait for a predator...I could barely reach him but I grabbed his tail to try and pull him out and he talked to me! I couldn't believe he was alive!
I yelled for my husband to come help me and with some pushing and prying we got him lose. He can't stand up all the way or walk straight but did drink a little and took a bite of food. I put him in a poultry cage with fresh shavings, food and water....in with his buddies......but he's locked in the cage.
I'm so happy to find him alive but what the heck happened to him and now he really needs to find a home! I can't keep him in with the Polish and can't let him out with the others! Anyone in my area want the luckiest chicken around?
