Quality is hard to come by these days. I personally do not, I like to breed and get some batches for myself before I sell them and currently I won't have any until next year. I'm just greedy I guess

Edit: I was just randomly browsing the internet searching, "funny eggs" and this is what came up...

Poor Polish, it can't be healthy.

I agree with the concept of dying chicks. It is not a unhealthy as you might think. Those birds in the post are just to funny ! Someday I'll most likely dye some of my own. Right now I am too busy working on perfecting my hatching skills.

Did you see the clip on BBC, where sheep farmers are dying their sheep because their has been an "organized buch of thieves" stealing sheep to sell for meat.

And another note, look at the amount of addititves that are added to foods worldwide. Looks at the amount of junk that is added to most health products that we use daily. There is food coloring in almost everthing. Read the labels and while you do, remember that the FDA does not even have enough employees to monitor commercial food supply let alone that the laws are not enforced already.

Anyway that looks like they were bathed in food coloring dye. Look at the legs of the one bird, they are the same color as the lower part of the bird. Or they might have used photo shop. Hey we are only here for a little while...............enjoy stuff even artifically dyed chickens.

Illia,
Your opinion on these please? Not for show but for putting with my tolbunts when they get bigger.
There are two hens...this one has the most white. The roo doesn't have any noticeable white. They are right on a year old.

1st and 3rd - Definite yes with putting with Tolbunt. Very nice crest size, good coloring, good tail angle, . . . The other two are just fine too, but those in specific stick out.

Wait, so, . . . Who's who? You say there's only 2? Gosh they all look either different or it looks like you've got 3 girls or something.

Sorry! The third one is my supposed roo...the other pics are Henrietta. There is a third polish, a hen, with less white on her head but she is not pictured. I really did not intend to raise any but now I have two tolbunt babies and feel it is a shame to let them end here so I guess I will see. I just don't have any clue AT ALL what to do. I had assumed I had hatchery polish but when I said so to the Mom and Pop feed store she was highly offended and let me know they came from a breeder....that sure seems like a whole lot of white...so I guess culls somewhat? that she would not keep for breeding? I have no clue but their dispositions are a dream.

Well, your "roo" is a very gorgeous pullet.

Pretty sure those girls are hatchery stock though, despite what the feedstore may say. True show-bred Gold Laced Polish are VERY rare and wouldn't exactly look like that.

The white in the crest isn't too much to worry about, especially when crossing them to another color. If you're new with this, well, I'd say I'm very jealous for you having those girls. . . I'd love some good/better/more Gold Laced girls for my Tolbunt boys. But if you truly want to work on it, I'd be glad to help. Verbally, I mean.
