I am pretty mad about these last eggs I put in the incubator. Now, there's some things you have no control over, like getting hatching eggs with detached yolks. But this batch I got was wrapped very well. One egg was putrid-bad. The rest are very porous. 10 eggs, one bad, 5 non developers, 4 left at 10 days.

However, I have 2 17 week old pullets, they got their bangs trimmed today, now they realize that there is a person attached to those feet that bring the treats!

I trimmed 3 (one is a rooster with a Mohawk) of my four, 6 wk olds crests today too!

It was so funny! They looked so surprised to be able to see me! They were acting so frightened because they couldn't see, and now they are so much calmer

I'm really glad I did it!! I love this breed

What is the best way to trim them? Do you cut them off at the base? Midway? Any help would be appreciated, and photos would be ideal!

Thanks,

Here's a couple photos. Both my job and a neighbor's jobs. I usually only trim the front, and usually just before the base or halfway, depending on where the feather is and how much vision it is impairing. Though it looks like mine can't see - They can.

This is how one of my friends did her hens (now mine

) - Half the crest is clipped about halfway. The bird can see VERY well however they do look kinda ugly.
