You really can't kill them all. Either more will move in or some other animal will take the place. Either well constructed pens with hardware cloth and/or dogs to help keep them moving on past your place. I can't afford to replace my polish. I would never get lucky enough to find someone else willing to part with tolbunts.

I'm backed by wooded conservation land, so there is quite an area for them to be. Have shot four in the last month, and it was quiet for a couple of weeks, but they seem to be back. I'll have to move the trap tonight to see if I can trick one into it.

Yup, we sit right here by the WMA property by the lake. We lived here several years and never had a problem until last year. We stopped up the dens we found with rocks and killed the one raccoon and no problems since. Actually though, the raccoon never could catch any of the free ranging chickens, it only got the ones in the pens.

I have posted before but continue to be at a loss as to caring for our Polish boys. Two of them now have missing head feathers. I do not see it happen, but am guessing the hens pluck them. It is so distressing to me - they apparently don't seem worse for wear. I have blukote on one of the boys because his head did look a little bloody - maybe more flesh colored than blood, but seemed to attract more pecking.

Very rarely will I see them pecked, and it's usually when they are eating treats and one of the boys gets in the girls' way. It looks as though the feathers are plucked out from the root.

Does anyone else have this problem mixing Polish with the general population? The Polish girls have no problems at all, and the main rooster is a Polish. Please help with suggestion?
