Greetings all! Brand new Polish owner here.

Got my two babies at our local auction over the weekend. There were actually two pairs there, a silver laced pair which I gave to my sis - in - law and the two I kept, a white crested blue hen and a terribly scrawny buff laced roo. Not sure how old they are but definitely mature. I gave them both a good trim so they could see well to get used to their new surroundings. And so the poor skinny little roo could see well enough to find the food quickly so he can fatten back up a bit lol. I do have a question though. The roo has a very tiny little comb. More like two tiny little nubs than the big old V I thought they were supposed to have. Does this mean he's young yet and his big boy comb hasn't grown in? Or do some polish roos just have small combs?

Here's a couple of pics of them both.

How sweet! The bearded don't grow a large comb or wattles. Here's an 8 month old roo. At a bit over a year now, he just shows a bit of comb and wattles, but you have to look for it.

Oh! He is gorgeous! And if my little guy won't grow a nice big comb to keep those bangs out if his face, I guess I'll just have to become a part time chicken hairdresser and keep him trimmed around the eyes. I felt like I was trimming my poodles again. Another quick question...I also just noticed that he's got no trace of spurs whatsoever. Is this unusual or, again, something bearded polish roos don't normally grow.

Yes. Also on the back, the saddle feathers of a roo are longer, pointier and very shiny.
Thank you!

I really can't wait to be able to tell, because Chewie has stolen my heart the most. I let them 'free range' in the bathroom with me while I'm getting ready for work, and she has hopped up on the toilet seat, then up to the counter, then up to sit on my shoulder while I'm putting on my makeup almost every day since she learned her wings can work. It is the cutest darn thing!

Here is Chewie last night getting snuggles from DH:

He is adorable. <3

So... I weight my little skinny guy today. He's a whole 1.7 lbs. Over the past four days that I've had him I've been offering him the standard fermented feed that I give everybody. He eats that. I've also been offering scrambled eggs, jelly bread, and oatmeal...all of which he picks at but won't eat. Any suggestions on anything else I can offer him to try and put some weight back on his skinny bones?

Yay! I got my babies from ideal!

i got 4 assorted crested, 4 assorted d'uccles, 4 assorted cochins, and 4 assorted sebrights. The crested though I got one silver laced, one white crested black or blue, and I believe a white crested red or red crested red. Then I got this big black one, no feathered legs, no bump but he/she has a beard or some muff or idk but hes different. I don't know if he is Crevecoeur? I will get pictures soon once they settle in some more.
