Like when can you tell they have a crest or when do the adult feathers start to grow in? Their crests are evident at hatch, and only get bigger as they grow..
I'm not sure if that's what you were asking tho..
Mine started as soon as her wing feathers showed
He sorta looks like a cross btwn a buff and a GoldLaced but I can't say for sure as I've not seen a lot of crosses. ..but in my imagination that's what one would look like..lol.. I know that's not much help but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in. Not sure what your daughter shows in ..mine is in 4H..but we checked before I ordered paint Silkies and Tolbunt bc we knew the paint wasn't recognized and weren't sure about Tolbunt. They said she could show in the 'Other' category I believe they called it..she would still show against other Silkies or Polish, I'm guessing just judged on everything but color? Thats the way I understood it. It's a pretty bird regardlessHello, I'm new to the polish breed and trying to learn all that I can about them. I have a rooster that is either 3 or 4 months old. I'm not sure what his color falls under, and if he will even be able to show in the fair. My daughter is wanting to show him, but with not really knowing with his color if he can. He is a pure breed, as he came from a lady who breeds them strictly. I couldn't get a better picture, doesn't even help when I'm holding him either. Even though when you allow him to sit on your arm, he shows himself off as if to say, "Look how pretty I am."![]()
