Polish Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First Polish egg!! Goodness that's a pretty LITTLE egg! She's been singing for like 2 hours, she's proud.

A very first pullet egg is usually the smallest egg. They will increase in size. Keep her first egg and compare it with her 2nd and 3rd egg to see if there is a weight difference. It happened with all my chicken breeds.

My little Polish lady...although hubby seems to think it is his. I think it is a buff lace, but am unsure. If anyone can tell me what variety of Polish she is, please pitch in. She is 5 weeks old in this pic. Will be 6 weeks on Tues
What were her parents colour? She looks white but does have a buff colour to her. Here are the buff that I had ~

Hi, I have two-4 week old golden laced polish chicks with 28 other chicks in a 8x8 brooder right now. Its my first time raising Polish chicks and I have noticed that they don't have feathers on the back and on the top of there heads (where i thought theres supposed to be a lot). I have noticed some pecking by the other chicks but will they grow back eventually and is there any way to prevent more pecking on them?

That's a lot of chicks even in an 8x8 space. A solution would be to separate the pecked-on chicks from the pecking chicks. Polish chicks, like Silkies, have soft skulls and you don't want any brain injuries done to the docile juveniles. There are products to deter pecking but can be messy and it would be best if you can solve the problem first without those products. Check that they have lots of space and have quality chick feed with the proper protein ratio, etc, so that they are nutritionally supplied to prevent pecking at each other's feathers. They could just be bored in a crowded space and have nothing better to do than peck at their neighbors. Do they have dust to bathe in, branches or stumps to sit on, a little doghouse to run in-and-out of, swinging treats hanging from the ceiling, etc, to keep them busy?

Ill look into the feed but do you think that separating them n ow and them putting them back together when tire out in the big run would have the same results because they've been separate for a little bit?

Our six week old Polish hen, although she was only 5 weeks when this photo was taken. Hubby "claims" this little lady, named her Alice. If anyone could help me identify her color I would greatly appreciate it. This is our first Polish. We bought a rare breed mix for our first chicken adventure. It has been a bit overwhelming with 14 chicks but we are almost ready for the coop. Hubby has "reinvented" the old pump house for our little flock. Nesting boxes will be hung today, which will be covered in screen for a while. He has a design for the roost ready to start on. We are using reclaimed wood from an old wooden fence for the interior of the hen house to give it the vintage look of the 30's.

I have no idea what color her parents are. We bought a rare breed mix from mypetchicken.com. She appears darker this week, she changes by the day. I've seen pics of golden lace polish and the buff polish but can't decide what she is going to be.

How old would y'all say these two are? I communicated with someone through Facebook about them and they told me they were 4 weeks.. I just thought they would be bigger at four week. I went ahead and bought them because I've been dieing to get polish.
