Polish Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are so pretty, what breed? Can you get pictures of their head/comb area? One more quick question! How old are they? Beautiful little chickies!

These are some of our new chicks - about a month old now.  They are a mix of frizzles & smooth.  I'm curious about the ones with "less" of a poof.  Are they polish, or is there another close-to-polish breed that I've picked up by mistake?  Also, what would the coloring on the black and white polka dot ones be, are they a splash?

I am thinking about putting my bantam buff laced rooter back in with the girls, but it will be a few weeks before the eggs will be pure since I have a bantam BLRW rooster in there right now.

I was looking for particular breeds last year and emailed and phone messaged several breeders. The phonemails never called back (not one) and out of several emails (sometimes to the same breeder) only about 15% responded back - I know how to check my Spam Folder and nothing was in there from any one I emailed. I finally chided (gently) one particular breeder who happened to show both breeds I was looking for. After the 3rd email and 2 months later, the breeder finally responded. Very pleasant to work with but very slow or nil about responding to emails. Some breeders get caught up in family life, chicken breeding, work, etc and just don't find it convenient to keep their websites, phonemails, or emails up to date.

Be patient and keep emailing or calling. Someone eventually will get back to you but it may not be quick. Beside the 2 months it took for a breeder to return my messages, I had to pre-order and pre-pay my birds, then wait another 6 months for them to be bred and shipped. It turned out to be a pleasant experience and gave me an understanding of a breeder's life.

Sometimes you can get lucky and catch a breeder with stock you want at the right time and sometimes you have to wait. Sad but true in my experience and private breeders are not hatcheries. Many times they custom breed to your order so as not to have too many chickens in their pens.

Be diligent and persistent to check not only BYC but Google/search other Polish websites, association breeders' directories, or occasionally put up another PM to a breeder on BYC. Good luck. When I was looking for Dominique breeders I emailed directly to the ADC secretary who gave me a couple of references. It's also amazing how quickly many breeders discontinue breeding a particular chicken breed and don't bother to take down or change their websites or association listings.

I'll try to take a picture and post. They are silver laced polishes, and are a little over three weeks old. Pretty wirery little birds. My slightest move gets them sprinting like usane bolt in the olympics
