Either a bird is frizzled and carries the gene or isn't and doesn't. You can produce frizzles from non-frizzled by breeding a frizzled to them, but otherwise you cannot have a smooth feathered bird, breed it to another smooth feathered bird, and produce frizzles. There's no recessive genes involved with frizzled feathers.

I was simply letting those know that we're inquiring about my stock that even though they appear to have smooth feathers in my pic they are frizzled meaning if they buy my eggs they will most likely have some chicks with the expressed frizzle gene ( curly feathers ) and technically they should get 50, 50 since I breed expressed frizzled to smooth carriers of the gene to not get extreme curlies that end up bald . but they could get all or none it's how it goes with odds . If I bred a bird that carriesthe gene to a non frizzle carrier the percent drop to 25%. So to all inquireing my bbs are all carriers of that gene.

I am working on frizzle in my flock...I have a clarification question...I think Uni is a double frizzle (frazzle) as she has bald spots and super curls...if she is a frazzle does that mean she will have all frizzle chicks? or will some still be smooth?

If she is a. Frazzle a frizzle with 2 sets all babies will be frizzled . I give mybfrizzles some turkey starter and alfalfa hay and it has improved their feathers significantly

You can breed her to a smooth and you'll get 100% frizzles, yes. Breeding her to a frizzle will get 50/50 frazzles and frizzles.

And to frzldnfabfarm: Ah okay, just making sure.
