Was taking pics today of the chicks and noticed this one has five toes.

Shouldn't be, I saw pics of the parent flock. I also have 8 siblings and none of them have it.

Many generations back a silkie may have been used in the breeding line for colour etc then the off Spring crossed back to polish over many generations to keep the colour genes. I have a polish hen and she has feathered legs that polish should not have. I saw her parents too and they were full polish but the feathered legs must have come from generations back as I'm guessing has happened with your 5 toes if your certain the parents were polish. Me hens siblings don't have feathered legs just her.

I'm guessing so, a trait/gene that's showing itself from many generations back.

Yes that's another breed with 5 toes and crest so it could be.

I would think if Silkie were in the background that the 5 toes would also have feathered legs with it. Seems more likely a Houdan history since some people have crossed the Polish with Houdan in the past.

Well that makes sense. I didn't know Hougang has 5 toes also. So it more than likelY that combination somewhere down the line.
