Maybe some aprons for the hens? Maybe the hens are finding him uncomfortable so inturn fight him off?

I need to get some of those. There is one hen whose poor feathers are gone on her back because she is the only one who squats for him.....so he goes where it's easiest.

That would explain a lot then. Maybe she is more submissive and is an easy target. Maybe seperate her for awhile so he has to do the deed with the others. I'm sure she would appreciate the break from him too. I'm guessing he's just been too rough with them and the other hens are not having it where as the featherless one will.

That makes sense. I was thinking about it already. So all the more reason to separate her.

I love the colors that roosters get. Congratulations on your new flock! Mine is very young too - the oldest aren't even laying eggs yet and the youngest hardly have any feathers.
