I am also wondering about the sex of these little guys- they're only 1 month old so I know it's hard to tell already, but the black and blue ones have nice, round top hats already and the yellow one looks so raggety. I'm wondering if that likely means it's a male? Or just a slow developer haha. He/she isn't being pecked or anything that would make his/her head like that.

It's hard to tell, but a pompom head is normally a girl and Mohawk is a boy.

I have somewhere around a dozen st run polish chicks that are about 3 weeks old (White cap black and 3 silver laced) and one Silver Laced pullet who is almost 8 weeks old...they are really nervous little critters, the spook easily...is this normal? I handle them every day, but they just don't seem to want to have anything to do with me or anybody else...

this is quite normal.

This breed is fairly flighty, due to their crests. The crests block their vision and they have limited ability to see what they can only assume would be a predator.

I got lucky with my polish, only 2 of the 4 of my birds ended up being flighty (and the other two are on some narcotic the rest of the time, they are the most chill birds on the face of the planet its WIERD. Im breeding the two chill ones to see if I can get the persona/genetic out of their babies.)

I say just do what you're doing, and maybe help their vision my putting a hair band twice around the base of their crest feather (NOT THEIR SKULLS, JUST THE FEATHERS) to help them see better.

I have found that my buff laced polish are much calmer than gold/silbver laced polish.

his name is benny, and he and this girly are the calm ones. ca be picked up without a sound from ny agle, not struggle just a small "bok?" and then cotent purring.

I love my birds but something is seriosuly wrong with a chicken that doesn't think to run when it is snatched up -_-

LOL, my daughters white leghorn hen is like that.... just happily accepts being held with no issues what so ever... These chicks of mine are still littles... their crests are just starting to form a teeny bit of feather tips are starting to show through....and on the 8 week old pullet her's still hasn't started to cover her eyes yet... I'll keep handling them like you suggested...
I'm In St George Utah, Let me know when you have buff laced chicks available, and I may have to take a road trip out to pick up a few!

Lol I can try ^^

they are still both undr a year old, so I'm waiting for the roo to mature a bit so he wont hurt my baby when they breed. He's kinda rough and hes not sure what to do XD

I'm moving to Texas soon, me thinks. Fiance is enlisting in the military there. soooooo many benefits of moving to texas, not even starting with the legal hog hunting all year long and the large properties for CHICKENS
