Polish to appenzellers?

So i bought a pair of chickens that were supposedly polish but turns out their appenzellers and i feel bad because i made the cages to fit the needs of the polish which is about 3 by 3ft i know that appenzellers like to climb and dont tolerate confinement so i want to know if its ok to keep them in their, theyve been in their for about 4 months. any comments?

How are they acting? Do they act stressed? My appenzellars are really tame. I can pet them and they don't seem flighty like I read they were.

ETA: Is there any way to expand the area? 3x3 seems awful small to me for total confinement....do they get free range time?

My Appenzellers are confined to a coop and run and they managed just fine.

If they are showing signs of stress I would maybe expand the area? Bigger is better...so go as big as you can.
