I have to be the worst at identifying chickens genders ever and have the worst luck with getting roosters. In hatching and raising my own silkie chickens I have had 7 roosters and 1 hen. Now I have polish and I think have a bunch of roosters again. These 3 are maybe 10 -12 weeks old.

1. The first one I am not sure. Since #3 looks more like a rooster and the crest feathers have always flopped down more in the back. Also the feathers around the neck aren't as bright and long. Middle of pecking order.

2. My frizzle I think may be a hen since the crest feathers seem more rounded but then again it's a frizzle so who knows. Personality wise I would also say the bottom of the pecking order.

3. I am pretty certain I have a rooster here. Top of the pecking order.

What do you think?

Thanks,

At their age the roosters should have big wattles, and red combs, I see neither so I think they are all pullets.

I guess I hadn't had a bearded rooster, and forgot there's a difference. After looking at your pictures again, the bottom bird looks to have hackle feathers, a side shot might reveal saddle feathers too, so I think that may be a rooster.

My Rudy is a full-grown Tolbunt roo, over a year old, and his wattles and comb are barely there. It's very hard to sex Polish, even at 10-12 weeks. My latest crop are 16 weeks old and I'm only now fairly confident about their sex --- but I'm basing it on feathers and behavior.

I would be willing to bet the last picture is a rooster. Could we see a picture of his saddle/tail feathers and legs?

No idea about the first two! Lol.

They all look like cockerel to me.
I was thinking that too. I already have bad luck with rosters but this will take the cake. If they end up being roosters I will part with 2 of them in the Groton MA area if anybody is interested. The saddle feathers look identical to me on 1 and 3 in person. But the direction the tail feathers point are up on 2 and 3. 1 has more of a straight tail so who knows. I'll go outside in a little while and take more pictures. These guys are impossible to photograph. I'm used to silkies but these guys are fast and can jump over my head if they wanted to at only a few weeks old.
