Today i picked up my Polish to see shes got a bit of a thinned out spot on her head. Shes always been a little thin on top (shes just 4ish weeks old) Its hard to tell if the little tiny feathers poking up are just new ones coming in or have they been pulled out? two of the spots were red like they might be bloody a little. is this more likely bullying? do feathers ever bleed when they come out?

I never see them picking on her...but if they are, how can i make them stop?

I have two polish babies, 5 1/2 weeks old. I haven't noticed any bleeding as their crests are growing in. Not saying it can't happen, just haven't noticed it with mine.

If you can get your hands on some pine tar and can apply it without it getting in the chick's eyes, try dabbing a little bit of it on the red spot(s). It has antiseptic and anti-microbial properties so it'll help with healing and the other chicks will hate the taste of it, so won't be likely to peck the same spot twice.
