Hey! I’m new to this forum!

I joined because about 4 months ago I bought a batch of polish hatching eggs. 11 babies hatched, and most are beautiful! But several of them have crazy looking Mohawks! Is this a breed defect? Does it mean this is a rooster?

Also, as a general question, how much do 4 month old polish babies gender sell for?

(Picture of one Mohawk baby and one pretty baby for examples!)

Welcome to BYC!

The crazy crest is a sign of a male, yes. It's not the only sign, but it's pretty telling.

As for how much they sell for... well, around where I live, there's no demand for fancy breeds. I'd probably find it hard to give them away, locally, unless I found a 4H kid.

What quality are your Polish? [EDT: Show quality? Reputable breeder? Hatchery?] They look pretty good, so you may be able to use that to advertise. You should probably also give some hint as to your location. Someone from your area might be able to provide some good guidelines.

Thank you!! I’m in South Georgia. I bought them from a little old lady. Lol I don’t think she was a “reputable breeder”, but her coops were immaculately clean, and her birds were healthy. I just bought them for fun! I’m assuming pet quality, although I really have no idea what warrants show quality.

I will add that I have noticed people on local swap pages looking for Polish.
