Political Ramblings

Ahhh post wars, when will you folks realize you can find info to back anything on the web.

Obama is in washington he is wealthy but what is disturbing is he portrays himself as an outsider which is nothing more than smooth talking.

1.7 million does sound familiar but I am not going to waste my time researching it. Good grief...

True, but it's pretty easy to tell which sources are credible, and which are fanciful. Also, adding your sources makes it easy to spot an intelligent, well-researched comment vs one that's made up, or simply passing along bits that were themselves never researched.

So how much do you think Obama was worth in 1992 ?
Did you see how much Nancy Pelosi has gone up in wealth ?

In 1992? Right after finishing law school? Probably not a lot, but who is worth a lot when they first finish school?

And who cares what Nancy Pelosi's net worth has done?

I don't think it really matters how much a politician is worth. I think what matters more is where they get their wealth. Did they get their money doing respectable things or does it come from more shady things? I read an article maybe a year ago about the governor of Oregon, John Kitzhaber, was traveling around while he was governor giving speeches about legislation in the state known as the Oregon Health Plan. He would have meetings or give speeches and get paid for that while he was on the clock as governor.

Another article that made me shake my head was about the secret service following VP Biden to his home in Delaware. The secret service stayed in a cottage right next to the main house. Biden actually sent them a bill for staying in his house. Charging the secret service to stay on his property while he was home on vacation. Kind of ridiculous.

Well if you or I had done what Nancy Pelosi has done we would be in jail for insider trading.

Do We Have Standards Today

Here is a little food for thought for our government

"You just
pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more
than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible
for re-election and

1. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no
pay when they're out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social
Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the
Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into
the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the
American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all
Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.
Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and
participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the
American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void

Sounds good to me! Then they can also work on redistributing some of their own wealth instead of ours.
