**Gasps in horror** You like sweet cornbread?! That isn't corn bread that's corn CAKE! No no no my cornbread is cooked like my mother taught me. Eggs, milk, corn meal, a pinch of baking soda and salt, poured into a hot cast iron pan and cooked until golden. Smear some butter on it or pour some beans and greens over it and you have a meal.

You might want to sit down. It is a practice where people mix wheat flour in with the corn meal, leaven it like you would a cake, and add lots of sugar. sometimes they even top it with honey.
