Hello, I am looking for some advice regarding one of my hens.
For the past month, she has been slow and consistently the last of the flock to move, eat, or drink.
A few days ago, she became lethargic and completely lost the use of her legs.

A vet visually examined her and despite having one leg forward and the other back, he ruled out Marek’s disease, prescribing a broad-spectrum antibiotic and Corid.
It has been a week, and while she is still unable to walk, I believe she is strong as she strongly resists force-feeding. She also shows slight (both) leg movement when I lift her.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

PS: Her abdomen is swollen. I have been massaging her daily and have applied lubricant to her vent.

Thanks a lot

I'm sorry about your hen.

Did the Vet run a fecal float to see if she'd benefit from deworming?

You don't mention when her last egg was, she has a swollen abdomen, so she may have a reproductive issue. Did the Vet feel like she had fluid in the abdomen?

Thanks a lot for your respond!
My vet actually didn't run a fecal float.

I found the link you sent really interesting, however my lady has a normal crop and a full abdomen

May God bless you
