Legal here. Have the acreage so any restrictions are sort of ignored by the town. As the officer said when we asked, "We have so many wild chickens here, go for it. Just keep the coop 100' away from water."
Got chicks a week ago. Found out today they're illegal. (well, kind of knew they weren't legal but was trying to get them to change the town ordinance, didn't work). Planning on trying to keep them anyway. Scared, though.
Legal....We are zoned ag.... cows are on one side and the High School is on the other our land is surounded by the city but is actually in the county. (not sure if there is a limit but who cares) I have 4 roos 30 hens about 15 chicks and 90 eggs in the bator ...not to mention the 26 cicks I ordered from the hatchery.
I live on a farm that is zoned agriculture, so I'm legal, but our county is trying to pass an ordinance that would regulate the number of animals a person can keep on a small plot. Ironically, you can have way more dogs than chickens! I made a public comment, but I haven't followed up to see what is happening.
