Yes, it is a lot of work, and if you have pedigree, show placings or other special designations or treatment, they are worth more than hatchery chicks. People have to be prepared to pay for quality, and to get what they pay for. Hatcheries are generally not the mecca of standard bred poultry and people will have to pay more to a private breeder if they want something nicer than the average. The money to run the incubator alone has to be justifiable by asking more for the birds.
