Like a fish but ever since my encounter with that 3" catfish when I was 13, you'll have to drag me kicking and screaming into the water .....never again!
A three inch catfish traumatized you that badly? I think we need to hear this story.

DW and I are pretty good swimmers. (On our "first date" we swam in the Mississippi.)
We made sure DD learned to swim early and it's a good thing. When we were rebuilding after Katrina she snuck into the backyard with some neighbor kids and fell into the deep end of the pool (winter). The kids sheepishly came to us and said DD might be in trouble.
We tore to the pool to find DD, probably 4 yo, standing on the side of the pool, soaking wet and shivering in winter coat and boots. She had swam back to the side and pulled herself out. (She was mostly worried that she was in trouble for ruining her boots.) 🤦‍♀️
We always made sure that our boys were able to swim early on as well! They used to swim constantly but now that they’re all adults, it’s like pulling teeth to get them to go swimming :th

Yes. I was born and raised walking distance to the coast so swimming in the calm or hitting the waves was a popular past time growing up, especially in the warmer months. I still visit those places since it's only 40 minutes away but have started to prefer the more relaxing creeks around me
