Polled to Polled breedings?

Yes you can breed polled to polled,BUT you want to be prepared to Cull.
There is a 25% chance you can get a Hermi with a Homozygous breeding.
If its a Heterozygous then its doable to get Polled does that go on to breed and produce.
I Have 2 Polled does that are Heterozygous and will be bred to a Horned Buck.Polled is dominate.

I have a polled buck and a disbudded doe. I was looking at getting some more does and I found a gorgeous little doeling but she is polled too! argh!

What type is he ?Look at the top of the head does he or she have knobs where horns should Be?If so then they are a Heter.
If the top of the head is smooth and no bumps then they are Homo and I would not Breed them.

polled to polled breedings can produce sterile offspring, i think that's the only health problem that can arise

I am not a goat person so i thought I'd ask!

Polled ( im assuming with horns) vs. Not Polled ( hornless breed )

different than :

Polled vs. Disbudded ( horns REMOVED)

right?

Quote:
Polled is without horns. Disbudded is a horned goat that has had its horns removed. Typically at a young age they are burned off.

I will check him tomorow and ask the breeder about the doeling. If one is a heter and one is a homo can they be bred?

Yes =Hetero to homo
NO =Homo to Homo== 25% will be Hermis

All you got to do is look at her head to tell.
