That's amazing! I love that you named him.

thanks! i feel sorry for him because he has to turn his whole head sideways to get his food, but the other crows are pretty decent to him and he does get his share.
there's one with his bottom part of his beak that's longer than the top. like an underbite. i call him gomer (like gomer pyle but i am showing my age). and there's creaky the crow. he just makes a lot of creaky noises. like he's talking to himself 😂
there used to be two jackdaws with white specks all over them. they looked like they got splashed with bleach. they were "mr. and mrs. speckles". i haven't seen them in awhile 😞
there's other named ones but those are my main ones 😂

That warms my heart!

i am going to make today's picture the crow presents.
i keep them in my dying cactus's pot. please don't judge me for neglecting my houseplants. i have a big veg garden outside to make up for it 😂

i'm sure there's been stones and sticks left as gifts, but not so obvious (or pretty) as these 😊

It's nice they take care of their disabled ones. Not many species do. :love
they don't help him out or anything, like. if they were REALLY nice, they'd help him with the picking it up part, but they do give him space and time to get food. and they don't pick on him or anything like that.

This is so neat!

And I'm so jealous. I have blue jays, crows, and ravens that I love because they keep tabs on the hawks. But my chickens are terrified of them and they never get this close. Mostly they hang out in my neighbor's horse field. Crows are super smart and have been known to show empathy, so I'm not surprised that your rooks are accepting of their friends with extra needs. I don't know anything about rooks but they're in the genus Corvus with the crows. Where do you live?

Oh so beautiful. Forget precious stones set in fine jewelry…those gifts would be my most cherished possessions!
