Pond

Do you suggest a certain filter? I want the best
It not just a filter that's important, but the whole system.
It'll take up almost as much space as your pond and might cost more.
That's for a bare bottomed pond with pristine water,
anything less will entail mucking out the pond every year to avoid algae blooms and other nasties.

Here is a very rough concept drawing of a good gravity fed filtration system:

The first, and most important, vessel is a settling tank to get all the heavy soil(poop) out of the water column.
All the vessels should have drains in them (not shown) to dump waste frequently from water column with the least amount of water replacement needed.

Ok what about a large pond? Like 1/4-1/3 acre man mad? We're planning to put in a decent sized swimming pond in a few years. We plan to aerate it. Would like 2-4 ducks be an issue? Or is that large enough to be ok with the ducks using it too?

That's a whole different story, with different maintenance issues-or none at all, a few ducks are not likely to have much of an impact on that large of a body of water. The smaller the volume of water, the harder it is to maintain.

I'm not sure about ducks, but an aquaponics setup might work. They work well with fish.

You will hate making a pond for the ducks and the UP KEEP.
I only have 3 small Koi & Goldfish and it can be a pain to deal with.
I just got it cleared of the Green Pea water and now have to keep a big Sun Shade over it so it cuts down on the amount of sun to it (sun make green worse).

As others have said, you will have to have a Very Heavy Duty filtering SYSTEM on it for ducks.

I hate to pass on what I heard instead of what I know... but it's my understanding that putting a little (barley ?) hay will clear green water pretty fast. Might be worth looking into.

Yeah I'm sure a big pond will be a whole other thing.

True, including what OTHER inhabitants it might attract.
Ponding Wives Tale.....kinda like DE will kill a mite/lice infestation. ;)
Exactly why I don't like passing on what I haven't experienced myself. So many of those so called life hacks are complete nonsense and they would know it if they ever actually tried!
