Well iv been lucky and haven't had to deal with colic since I got the horses. But around lunch time i realized something was wrong with my pony. She kept rolling and biting her sides. So I immediately called the vet and I gave her banamine.Got her up and started walking her.She didn't go down again until 9:00pm. She wouldn't touch her dinner so I gave her another dose of banamine and walked her around again...She hasn't went down anymore(10:30)

I'm staying up all night to check on her constantly and to make sure she doesn't go down.If shes not better by morning I'm calling the vet back and having him come out.
EXT..She has pooped twice today and drank alittle water.

So please say a prayer and ill keep yall posted...

You need to keep her walking. I mean for like hours. Even if she is looking better, walking will help the rest of it get out.

When my friends horse coliced it took 8 people smacking and pushing and pulling him to keep him walking. It was horrific. He wanted to die.

Yours isn't as bad as this. But still. I think they walked him for like 10+ hours straight.

Another friend walked their horses for 24 hours, and still lost both of them.

Keep her moving. Don't stop even if she isn't laying down.

I will be praying for you.

Been there, done that....multiple times. You should continue walking her. One time I walked all night. I had to put a whip to the horse when he went down. HORRIBLE night. He did pull through, though.

A student's horse, after much walkingand drugs, appeared to improve. Something told me all was not well. We loaded him up in the trailer and rushed him to the vet for surgery. He started crashing badly on arrival. He went down and died with his head in my lap. His "recovery" was when he ruptured, making him feel better, but sealing his doom.

Most survive, some don't. Surgery will save many, only to lose them to a future colic. I am hoping all goes well for you two.

Do you have any probiotics?? Probios, Fast Trac, Optizyme or the best dac 9-1-1. You should mix a couple teaspoons in some water and squirt into her mouth with a 60cc catheter syringe.
I also give a tablespoon or so of electrolytes with water in a catheter syringe encourages them to drink.
Get a stethescope (Walgreens , Wal Mart) and listen to her flanks on both sides for disgestion sounds

Try to keep her moving and no food only water. Do not let her lay down.
I've been through this many times and have never lost a horse (keeping fingers crossed). she should start to feel better soon.
Sending prayers your way.

Did the vet see your pony? One of the most important things is to keep them hydrated. Pinch the skin on the neck and see if it returns to normal quickly. If it doesn't you need to get fluids in to the pony fast. Without fluids there is a good chance that there will be an impaction. We had a pony that coliced and had an impaction. We were lucky that our vet started IVs on him. He said he wanted to give enough fluid that he would pee. This pony pulled through. Without enough fluids in their system the bowel can not move the fecal matter out of the intestine. Be careful about too much walking, Don't tire him out. As long as they don't roll they can lay down, rolling is what does the twisting of the intestine.

looks like he is on sand, you need to feed him physillium (sp) everyday if he is...as for those that have had it happen "many" times,,you need to change your feed/hay or how or where or when you feed...and they need fresh water 24/7..and salt...I have had horses for 35 years and have only had 2 very mild cases that cleared up with walking...
