Ok. We called the sheriff first thing this morning and they said to call the humane society. We've bin talking to them off and on all day so far and they said they aren't equiped to haul horses/ponys, they said in order for them to confinscate it they are going to have to be in contact with the sheriffs department. The humane society sent Jeff Hazen out to go talk to the guy and Jeff is something to do with county regulations or something in that manner. We're waiting to hear back. We drove by just about 20 mins ago and now the're are two ponys in the trailer.
This guy has had the cops/animal shelter called on him b4 for neglecting and abusing his horses. He ended up moving to a better place that wasn't a trash whole and in about a month it ended up lookin like the place he moved out of.
and really I don't think that matters if the horse is getting food or water they are locked in a frikin metal trailer prolly in thier own poo, this trailer has open sides I mind you and it's bin raining over here the last 24 hrs. and we are getting rain for the next 7 days.
The only thing those horses have at thier riding place is a corral, with no shelter and it's the same conditions that he keeps his horses in at his house, A HUGE MUD HOLE!
This guy has bin around for years and everytime I see him I end up talkin to my boss or Ma about how big of a scumbag he is and it's crap about how he treats his animals.
I'm going to do whatever I can to get his horses takin away and his business shut down. I'm very seriouse about the humane treatment of ANY kind of animal, weather it's a tiny mouse to a hsue horse.
P.S. We have talked about going in and takin back up to our place but he's got cars surrounding his trailer to where you can't get in and thier house is right there, as it is we slowed down and rolled down our tinted windows to take a picture and his wife was sitting right there and saw us.
Thank you for everyone's support, let's hope I can take care of this guy.
I'd like to know too! This is just one of the saddest things when the humane society won't even help out because of a lack of a trailer...how hard would it be to find someone and ask to borrow it??
Ok so the sheriff went out there and as he got out of his car a man walked out, wheelbarrel in hand with some dirt smothered hay and a bucket to put water in. The guy said he taked real good care of them and the reason the mule and a pony were in there is because they were mean and bity. So really the cop couldnt do anything because one of the owners were out theyre pretending like he cared. When I drove by later they trailer was gone and I haven't seen it since...I think he took it down to his corral down on the beach with all his other horses. Sad story I wish I could have got that guy in trouble, but I'll be watching and waiting for him to mess up agian cause I'm sure he will. Thanks everyone for caring, I wish everyone cared about animals as much as you wonderful people on this site.
In New Mexico we pull up, open the trailer, take out the animal, tell the owner since the animal is so much trouble we are relieving them of the problem. We tell them to please call the Sheriff's dept. and report that we have stolen his abused animal, we give them our address and tell them to hurry. Of course we also let them know we have photos of the animal in question being abused in whatever manner it is so they can decide how they would like to handle it. That is if we are in a good mood. If we are in a bad mood, we pull up, take the animal, and the owner is lucky to walk again. \\
We value our horses here, we value life, and we don't tolerate fools.
First of all unfortunatley it isn't the humane society or animal control....but the livestock board....which nobody will tell you, but is an entirely different division....but it is absolutely the livestock board that governs these issues. I'm in NM and LOVE my neighboring horse...but my mom refused to let me call when it was nearly starving....she had enough problems with the neighbors>.... and my mom is an absolute animal lover. I finally see the horse being fed and the owner didn't know she was hungry...out to pasture draught etc....whatever....I've seen from this hood (from this horse and another) if you make friends with the livestock board they will totally and want to help you on these issuesss....just push it.....
