Pool chlorine in duck pond

I believe the pool chlorine tablets contain calcium hypochlorite which is similar to bleach. It can't be good for your ducks if they drink it unless the quantity is really small. The chlorine gas fumes also could harm your ducks but I don't think it or the hypochlorite would affect the eggs. If you are trying to kill bacteria I would think vinegar might be a safer alternative.

This thought has tempted me too. But I was thinking it probably wouldn’t be the best for their health. I know there are small amounts of chlorine in our drinking water, but it’s at very specific levels that I would never be able to mix properly. One other thought I had was it might strip some of their oils that help them float and keep them warm. Just some food for thought.
