We finally got around to building and installing new poop boards and roosts. We also had 3 Pekin ducks that were living with the chickens in the coop and we rehomed them in hopes of being able to keep the coop much more clean. Any recommendations are appreciated we’ve built...and rebuilt many things and are always making improvements!!

poop boards/trays mean daily or weekly cleaning unless you fill them with deep litter as well. What was wrong with "BEFORE"?

Before stayed way too messy. I’m sure a lot of that was the ducks but I read a lot on the poops boards and I don’t mind spending a couple extra minutes scooping daily into a bucket...or one of the kids doing it! We have chickens, rabbits and goats so daily care and feed is a family thing for us and with 3 kids it doesn’t really take too long!

@DobieLover thanks for the inspiration!!! Hopefully they figure it out and get used to it....tonight there was a lot of blocking at the top of the ramp going on and a couple were roosting on the edge instead of up on the roost.

They'll figure it out. You might end up reducing the amount of PDZ on the boards. Mine like to dust bathe in there when it gets too deep.

Several of mine regularly roost on the edge...and right on the board too.
Neither are a problem.

Ditto Dat!!

I keep my PDZ only about 1/4" deep, and sift it all every day.

Here's some posts about it, they're kind of old, but changes are noted.
...and the thread these posts are in has a ton of examples of poop boards.
