So my little chick of the group had poop stuck to his butt, like the hole it comes out of, and it was hard as a rock, i thought to myself that should be good, so i took him to the bath room and ran warm water towards it's butt until all the poop came off, did i do the right thing? why was his poop stuck like that? btw i blow dry him the best i could, the moment i put him back in his home he poop !!!!! like he shot it right out no problem, i notice also he had a tiny dot of blood below his butt hole but it dry why i used the blow dryer, any thoughts why that happen? i was thinking i might of pulled a hair when i was drying him :(

Yeah you did the right thing, I have had that problem many times. I found some chick feeds cause this problem more than others but I have it happen with the best of chick feeds. I have had chicks die from a blocked pooper too. When I used Dumor feed I was constantly peeling off dingleberries and had chicks die from the blockage they built up as I was sleeping. After I stopped using Dumor feed it happened less often and I haven't had a chicken die from it since. I just pull mine off but using warm water to wash it off is much better. I lack the patients to do that and my brooder is outside where I do not have warm water to do that with.

I had the same thing with a couple of my chicks when I got them last spring. Look up "pasty butt," if you want more information. It is usually easy to fix (wash off the poop), but if the chick's vent gets pasted shut, the chick can die from not being able to pass any more poop.
