POOP QUANTITY QUESTION! :)

Alright! I finally compared some labels. most everything is roughly the same except one thing. ..CRUDE FIBER! Amish feed is max 4%. Rural king feed is max 8%. Not sure yet which is better or recommended or whatever. But that's the poop update

1st number is rural king. 2nd number is Amish. Protein min 16/16. Lysine min .6/.75. Mehtione min .25/.3. Crude fat min 3/2.5. Crude fiber max 8/4. Calcium min max 3.5-4/3-4. Phosphorus min .55/.6. Salt min max .25-.65/.1-.6

Ah, you are discovering that labels only paint part of the picture. They tell you nothing about energy content or digestibility. Chickens tend to eat to meet energy requirements, so I am guessing that the Amish feed is higher in energy (perhaps due to using fewer fibrous ingredients), hence the birds eat less and therefore excrete less. They eat more of the RK layer feed, which produces more manure but also, due to higher intake, still provides the nutrition they need to maintain egg production. Either way works for the birds. Most people would prefer the lesser intake and excretion, but since you have a nice little side business going with manure sales, you may have a different perspective. :)
