I see alot of chicken pictures taken in homes, and I can't understand , well, don't they poop on the floor? The other night I saw a picture posted here with a chicken standing on the carpeting!!! I never read anything here about chickens pooping in the house, and I'm sure they do.

As much as I like my chickens, they won't be be coming in the house unless they're in a brooder box in my basement! A house chicken is not for me.

im with you on this one katy. i guess being raised on a farms got alot to do with not having them in the house.animals stay outside here.......

Ours were in the house as little chicks, to keep them nice and warm until they were hardened off. At about 5 weeks, they went out to the coop and free range nearly every day. We never let them in the house for any reason, they are far too messy. Our dog and cat are the only animals allowed in the house.

I too think that being raised on a farm has a lot to do with it. I do like my house dog and house kitties tho!!

I do not allow the chickens in the house, in fact I have a baby gate to keep them off the porch. If the gate is left down the seem to think the porch is the place to be. I did have mine in the house when babies, but the dust made me realize never again.

There are chicken diapers that you could put on them if you HAVE to let them in the house, but I think by the time I got 30 diapers installed I would have to start changing again, so none in the house here. I should say none on the ground, the kids have carried them in but they also carry them right back out.

I only have dogs and cats in the house usually, but my big rooster is in a dog crate in my sun room while we treat his legs for frostbite. The sun room is closed off from the rest of the house and still fairly cold because it's winter and there's no good way to heat it.
